Peruvian paprika exports have experienced a significant growth, with the volume increasing by 6% and the value soaring by 33% in 2023, generating US$149 million from 37,756 tons. This growth is attributed to higher crop yields and the product's ability to withstand climatic conditions, allowing for year-round shipments. The average price per kilogram was US$3.95, a 25% increase from the previous year, due to a shortage of Chinese and European paprika. Mexico and the United States were the primary markets, with Mexico's imports increasing by 8% and the United States' by 10%. In Europe, Spain was the main importer, but the price increase was less compared to North America. Russia also increased its imports by 38%, and there was a notable growth in shipments to Guatemala and Brazil, despite a price drop in Brazil.
