Peru is the fourth largest exporter of peas in the world since 2019, with a significant increase in export value and volume in 2013 due to reduced production in major exporting countries and a decrease in prices in the European market. However, exports suffered a setback in 2015 due to increased production in major competitors. In 2020, global demand for peas rose and restrictions caused by the pandemic led to a increase in international prices, with Peruvian peas reaching an average value of US$3.47 per kilogram and totaling 8,964 tons for a value of US$31 million. In 2021, Peruvian shipments experienced significant growth due to reduced shipments from China and a more than 23% increase in global demand. The average price of Peruvian peas in 2022 was US$3.23 per kilogram, and the main destinations for Peruvian peas have been the United States, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.
