Peruvian pitahaya exports increased fivefold between January and August 2024

Peruvian pitahaya exports reached US$ 1,332,000 between January and August of this year, showing a growth of 570.6% compared to the same period in 2023, when they barely amounted to US$ 198,634, reported the Agro-Exports Management of the Association of Exporters (ADEX). The countries of the European Union are the leading destinations for this exotic fruit. The first was the Netherlands with US$ 761,033, registering an increase of 413.5%, followed by Spain with US$ 488,526 (4,541.1%). Both accounted for 93.8% of the total. Others were France, Canada, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, Italy, Costa Rica and Aruba. The pitahaya is characterized by being delicious, juicy, fresh and with a high content of vitamin C.
