China has eliminated quarantine access management for imported frozen fruits, allowing any region to export these products without the need for additional permits. This development has sparked interest among exporters, especially since Thailand, the largest buyer of frozen durian from the Philippines, is no longer required to transship the product through Thailand. In fact, Davao, Philippines, which accounts for 78% of the country's durian production, has exported over 9,351 tons of frozen durian to China in the first nine months of the year, more than twice the amount in 2023. However, exporters need to ensure that the durian flesh is not overripe or rotten to avoid buyer complaints.
