The Philippines aims to become the world's largest coconut producer within five years, surpassing Indonesia, as announced by the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) Director Buted during the PCA's 51st anniversary. The country plans to replant 100 million coconut trees, targeting 8 million in 2023, to address the issue of aging trees, which average 60 to 70 years old. The PCA will focus on replacing old trees and constructing new processing plants in Visayas and Mindanao. Additionally, the PCA is urging the government to increase the fertilizer budget to enhance the fertilization rate of coconut trees.
