Brazil: Pig farming in Rio Grande do Sul sees increased market value

According to the Informative Bulletin released last Thursday (10) by Emater/RS-Ascar, pig farming in the Erechim region is performing satisfactorily, with price increases for both finished pigs and piglets. The price of the arroba reached R$6.10/kg in both segments, driven by the growing demand for piglets, which has heated up the market. In one integrator, the price of piglets weighing up to 23 kg reached R$1.95/kg of finished pig. In another cooperative, partner producers are receiving between R$40.00 and R$60.00 per pig. The few independent pig farmers who remain in the Erechim region are also satisfied with the results, receiving R$7.45/kg for finished pigs.
