Pineapple prices hit record high during rainy season, farmers have bumper harvest in Vietnam

It is the rainy season but pineapples in Tan Phuoc district, Tien Giang province are still lush and productive. In particular, in recent days, pineapple prices have increased from 11,000 VND/kg to 12,000 - 13,000 VND/kg. This price is the highest in many years, bringing farmers who harvest pineapples a profit of more than 6,000 VND/kg. According to pineapple farmers, although there have been many heavy rains in the past few days, thanks to the protective dykes and the local authorities dredging the canals, pineapple fields have not been flooded. Tan Phuoc district is the only locality in Tien Giang province in the Dong Thap Muoi region that specializes in growing over 16,000 hectares of pineapples. The pineapple variety grown in Tan Phuoc district is the Queen variety, with an average yield of 27-30 tons/ha/year.
