Despite the rainy season, pineapples in Tan Phuoc district, Tien Giang province are thriving and production is high. Prices have increased from 11,000 VND/kg to 12,000 - 13,000 VND/kg, the highest in many years, bringing farmers a profit of over 6,000 VND/kg. The district, which specializes in over 16,000 hectares of pineapple cultivation, is the only one in the province not experiencing flooding due to protective dykes and canal dredging. The Queen pineapple variety, with an average yield of 27-30 tons/ha/year, is the main crop, but the MD2 variety, yielding about 50 tons/ha, has a stable price of about 9,000 VND/kg.
