Piura promotes productive alternatives with the planting of loctao beans in 300 hectares

The Agrarian Agency Chulucanas and the Agrarian Office Morropón, from the Regional Directorate of Agriculture of Piura, are promoting the planting of 300 hectares of frijol loctao, of which 200 hectares have already been installed in various sectors of the Morropón district. The initiative is led by the Association of Small Agricultural Producers of the Morropón Province (Aspromor), with the participation of 200 farmers. The organization projects a reference price of S/5.00 per kilo, subject to market variations. Frijol loctao, which reaches maturity between 75 and 90 days until it becomes a dry grain, offers an estimated yield of 2000 to 2800 kilos per hectare. Thanks to these characteristics, it is established as a profitable alternative for small producers and with high export potential to Asian markets.
