Peru: Piura will export to South Korea 20 tons of loctao beans planted in the Sechura Desert

(Agraria.pe) In a joint effort between the Regional Government of Piura and the San Martín de Sechura Community Foundation, the initiative to cultivate more than 1,000 hectares of loctao beans in the arid lands of Sechura has entered its harvest phase, with plans to make a first shipment of 20,000 kilograms of this product to the Korean market this week. Alexis Robespierre Tume Saldarriaga, president of the San Martín de Sechura Community Foundation, explained that this project was carried out thanks to the trust formed by the Regional Government of Piura and the National University of Piura. In addition, it has had technical assistance and machinery support provided by the Regional Directorate of Agriculture (DRA). An estimated one thousand community members have benefited from this initiative, which has already secured buyers such as the companies Andes Perú and Procesadora Perú, and whose marketing destination will be Korea, at a price of 5 soles per kilogram.
