Piura in Peru: Workers protest after ban on manta ray fishing

Several cargo vehicles and buses full of passengers were damaged, as dozens of fishermen gathered on the Panamericana Norte, in the Talara area, to block the road. The protesters placed stones, sticks and burned tires in protest of the ban on stingray fishing. The congested road is an important connection between Máncora and Tumbes on the north side, as well as Talara and Piura on the south side.
