Prices in Ukraine for plums have been rapidly decreasing for the fifth consecutive week. The main reason for the price drop is that the market is oversaturated, while demand remains quite low. Analysts from the EastFruit project noted that today, prices for plums are in the range of 15-40 UAH/kg ($0.36-0.96/kg), depending on the variety, quality, and volume of the batches, which is on average 29% cheaper than at the end of last week. It is worth noting that the hot, sunny weather contributes to the intensive ripening of the fruit, but it worsens their quality, which also exerts additional pressure on the selling prices. Meanwhile, despite the price decrease, today plums in Ukraine are on sale on average 50% more expensive than a year ago. At the same time, orchard owners do not rule out that prices will have to continue to be reduced. In Varus, the fruit is sold at 59.90 UAH/kg.
