The PMGZ Carne program is the Zebu cattle industry's response to the problem of "cabeceiras de boiada," which annually generate around 30 million late and expensive calves to produce. Launched by the Associação Brasileira dos Criadores de Zebu (ABCZ) in partnership with slaughterhouses and feedlots, the initiative aims to prove the productive efficiency of Zebu PO genetics and ensure heavier animals in a shorter cycle. In an interview with Giro do Boi, zootechnician Ricardo Abreu, ABCZ's development manager, highlights that PMGZ Carne was born to "shed light" on the potential of Nelore PO genetics on commercial herds.
