Vegetable growing is an important branch of Polish horticulture and the share of vegetables in the value of basic agricultural crops is approximately 11%. Poland is the largest grower of cabbage and beetroot in the EU. It ranks second in the cultivation of cucumbers (after Spain) and potatoes (after Germany) and in third place in the cultivation of carrots (after Germany and the United Kingdom) and cauliflower (after Spain and Italy). The country is the fourth largest tomato and onion producer on the EU market. In the years 2015-2020, the production of field vegetables in Poland ranged from 3.8 to 4.6 million tons.
