Poland is the EU's leading producer of several vegetables, including cabbage and beetroot, and is also one of the top producers of potatoes, carrots, cauliflowers, tomatoes, and onions. The country's vegetable industry is diverse and competitive, with a significant portion of production being for export earnings. Between 2015 and 2020, Poland's vegetable production varied from 3.8 to 4.6 million tonnes of field vegetables and 1.0 to 1.2 million tonnes of vegetables grown under cover. The main vegetables grown under cover are tomatoes and cucumbers, with onions being the most cultivated vegetable overall. Export data shows a notable increase in both volume and value from 2004 to 2020, with the primary export markets being EU countries and non-EU countries like Ukraine and Belarus.
