In April 2023, Brazil's pork exports saw a significant increase of 29.9% in revenue and 16.6% in volume compared to the same period in 2022, totaling 104.5 thousand tons and US$ 251.3 million respectively. From January to April, the exports increased by 15.9% in volume to 379.4 thousand tons, generating US$ 897.7 million, marking a strong performance in the international market. China continues to be the largest importer of Brazilian pork, with a 20.8% increase compared to the first four months of 2022. Santa Catarina state remains the leader in pork exports, followed by Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná, Mato Grosso, and Mato Grosso do Sul. The Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) anticipates that Brazil's pork exports could reach around 1.2 million tons in 2023, potentially positioning the country as the third largest exporter globally.
