Pork prices in Hanoi markets have dropped due to increased supply, with some types selling as low as 130,000 VND/kg. This has attracted more buyers, leading to crowded pork stalls. In addition to the large supply from re-herd pigs and Vietnamese enterprises importing live pigs from Thailand, the price drop is also influenced by the non-profit fresh pork sale programs launched by major supermarkets like GO!, Big C, and Co-opMart. The Department of Animal Health has reported a 223% increase in pork imports from various countries and a significant quarantine registration for live pig imports from Thailand.
