Pork prices in Europe, especially in France and the Netherlands, surged to € 1.72 / carcass until the end of June 2021, before falling due to a 25.6% decrease in pork exports to China. This increase in availability led to a drop in prices, affecting Spain and the Netherlands more than France and Denmark. The Breton pork market price remained stable from July, while breeders estimate a loss of 20 euros per pig due to falling pork prices and rising cereal and protein prices since mid-June. The breeders' federations are calling on the sector to use inter-professional production cost indicators and to prioritize French pork.
