According to statistics released by the Ministry of Agriculture of Spain, pork production in the country was 5,065,617 tons in 2022, which represents a drop of 2.21% compared to the previous year, when 5,180 tons were produced.
The region of Catalonia, the country's largest producing region, also experienced a 1.10% drop, with 23,000 tons less, although it still produced 2,057,580 tons of pork in 2022. With a reduction of 4.38%, and a decrease of 55,000 tons in slaughterhouse production, which totaled 878,740 tons. Finally, among the most producing communities, Castilla La Mancha also had a drop of 5.30%, with production of 392,015 tons, 21,000 less than in 2021.
