Data from the GPP, provided by INE, shows a decrease in the slaughter of pigs in Portugal in 2020, with a 9.8% drop compared to 2019. There was also a 15.14% decrease in meat and its product imports. Imported frozen meat saw a 17.7% decrease, fresh/chilled meat by 13.6%, and offal by 24.3%. The value of imports also decreased by 10.2% in 2020 compared to the previous year.
