Portugal: Imports of pigs for slaughter and meat fall 11.1% in 2020

According to data published by the GPP, provided by INE as preliminary data, regarding the slaughter of pigs in Portugal in 2020, the entry of pigs for slaughter decreased by 9.8% in 2020 when compared to 2019, from 1120,761 heads to 1010655 heads. Imports of meat and its products decreased by 15.14%, from 104321.3 tons in 2019 to 88529.1 tons in 2020. Meat inputs are broken down as follows: in frozen meat there was a reduction in imports of - 17.7%, from 24358.6 tons in 2019 to 20037.9 tons. in 2019.
