In the first eight months of 2020, Peru's capsicum exports experienced a 12% increase in volume and a 13% increase in value, totaling 62,270 tons worth US $ 171 million. Despite an increase in supply, prices remained steady at around US $ 1.79 per kilogram, similar to 2019. The United States was the primary market, receiving 41% of the exports, followed by Spain with 29%. However, countries like Mexico, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Chile have emerged as promising markets, offering higher prices per kilogram. Mexico stood out with orders that increased 15 times and a price of US $ 2.15 per kilogram, the highest among these alternative markets.
