Potato harvest in Tajikistan may exceed forecast volume

In Tajikistan, the gross potato harvest exceeded 990 thousand tons. Of these, more than 790 thousand tons were grown on farms and public farms in the country, the rest - on household plots of the population. This is 50 thousand tons more than in the same period last year, writes Asia-Plus. According to preliminary data, this year potato production will reach 1 million 150 thousand tons, that is, the forecast figure of 1 million 112 thousand tons will be exceeded. The most productive years for potatoes in Tajikistan are considered to be 2013 and 2020-2022, when the republic received over 1 million tons of potatoes. Tajikistan ranks 4th in terms of potato production in Central Asia. There are approximately 100 kg of potatoes per capita, and according to this indicator the republic is in third place in the region after Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
