The Northwest European Potato Producers Association (NEPG) has forecasted a 6% decrease in potato production for France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium in 2022, totaling 22.1 million tons. This is due to high production costs and the shift to more profitable crops like cereals. Despite an increase in hectares, yield has decreased by 7.8% from the previous year. The NEPG also anticipates a reduction in the cultivation area for 2023 due to ongoing high costs and the appeal of cereal crops.
