Potatoes showed a downward trend during December in Chile

Potato prices in wholesale markets: after 4 months of increases, a downward trend is beginning to be observed. The monthly weighted average price of potatoes in wholesale markets in November 2023 was $31,003 per 25 kilo bag, value 9.3% higher compared to the previous month, and 166.2% higher compared to the same month in 2022 (table 1 and graph 1). In the analysis of the series of daily prices of the 25 kilo bag, a slight increase is observed in September 2022, which remained until the beginning of June 2023, where the slope of the increase increased sharply, going from $11,457 on June 1 , reaching $18,954 on July 18. Subsequently, a second significant rise is evident on November 16, where the maximum observed price of $35,797 is reached. From that date on, prices registered a decrease, ending the month of November at $20,933 (table 2 and graph 2).
