Brazil: Poultry farming in Bahia grows above the national average and leads production in the Northeast

In the wake of a robust agribusiness, Bahia emerges as a reference hub in the poultry farming scenario, with growth in production and revenue that surpassed the country's average in 2023. Bahia figures, based on data from the Agricultural Defense Agency of Bahia (Adab), as the main chicken producer in the North and Northeast regions, reaching eighth place in the national ranking. With a monthly housing of 16 million chicks, representing 2.6% of the national total, Bahian poultry farming has demonstrated notable growth in the last 10 years, with a rate of 31%, compared to the national average of 18%. “The growth of poultry farming in Bahia is a reflection of a safe business environment, especially in the legal and economic aspects, that the Government of Bahia has been creating in recent years.
