With an annual production exceeding 30,000 tons, Argentina has established itself among the top ten global producers of olive oil, contributing between 1 and 2% of the world total, according to a report released on the occasion of the celebration, on November 26, of the International Olive Day.
The provinces of La Rioja, San Juan, Catamarca, and Mendoza concentrate more than 90% of the cultivated area, which exceeds 70,000 productive hectares, highlighted the market leader, SolFrut. It is the largest local producer of olive oil, as it has three farms (2 in San Juan and 1 in La Rioja), where it cultivates over 3,000 hectares, distributed in 1,100 of pistachios, 2,200 of olive trees, and 145 of grapes. Its olive oil processing and packaging plant produces more than 3,000 tons annually, close to 10% of the national total.
