With a production exceeding 30,000 tons annually, Argentina consolidates itself among the ten largest producers of olive oil globally, contributing between 1 and 2% of the world total, according to a report on the occasion of the celebration, on November 26, of the International Olive Day. The provinces of La Rioja, San Juan, Catamarca, and Mendoza concentrate more than 90% of the cultivated area, which exceeds 70,000 productive hectares, highlighted the market leader, SolFrut. It is the largest local producer of olive oil, as it has three farms (2 in San Juan and 1 in La Rioja), where it cultivates more than 3,000 hectares, distributed in 1,100 of pistachios, 2,200 of olive trees, and 145 of grapes. Its olive oil processing and packaging plant produces more than 3,000 tons annually, close to 10% of the national total.
