Pre-Christmas slump on the fattening pig market in Poland: The discounts are substantial

According to our weekly survey, the last week brought a clear drop in pig prices. This is probably a reaction to the upcoming Christmas. As the purchase representatives inform, the plants have already collected stocks for the needs of Christmas, and at the moment they focus more on processing the collected half-carcasses than on acquiring new ones. Live pig prices For live pigs, meat plants currently pay an average of PLN 7.46 net per kilogram, which is 20 groszy less than a week ago. The rates range from PLN 7.00 to PLN 8.00 net per kilogram. Pig prices For pigs in wbc (class E) plants currently pay an average of PLN 9.48 net per kilogram, which is nearly PLN 0.30 less than a week ago.
