Netherlands: The price of bell pepper peaks, while cucumber and strawberry prices fall

The cucumber price has again fallen further. The unit price in week 42 averaged just over 31 euro cents on the VBT clocks. Tomato prices also experienced a dip, while bell pepper prices actually peaked. The fall in the cucumber price is in line with the five-year average. Unlike other years, the price has started to fall from a higher price level this time. From the beginning of November, if the traditional price movements are followed, the price should start rising again. In any case, it is certain that the supply of cucumbers from local cultivation will be much lower than in recent years, when lit cultivation increased noticeably. Tomato prices dropped slightly last week, both for loose and truss. The average price for loose tomatoes is lower than that for truss. A kilo of loose tomatoes cost an average of 1.08 euros in week 42, a kilo of vine tomatoes 1.59 euros.
