Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited Japan, strengthening the already strong agricultural trade relationship between the two countries. Japan is the third largest market for Vietnam's agricultural, forestry, and fishery products, with the export value reaching over 2.6 billion USD in the first 10 months of 2021. The trade is mutually beneficial, with Japan importing seafood, coffee, and wooden furniture, among other consumer goods, and Vietnam exporting these products due to its competitive advantage. The Japanese market has high requirements for food quality and safety, as demonstrated by a case where a durian export faced significant losses due to aphids. Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is prioritizing the expansion of agricultural exports to Japan.
