Procon finds variation of up to 108% in meat prices of Brazil

This week, Procon Tocantins conducted a detailed survey of the prices of 32 cuts of meat, including beef, pork, poultry, fish and sausages, in 10 commercial establishments in Palmas. The locations surveyed included seven supermarket butchers and three butchers. The survey found significant price variations between the different points of sale, with a highlight on beef front ribs, which showed a variation of 108.42%, with prices found ranging from R$11.99 to R$24.99. Chicken breast registered a variation of 101.68% between the lowest price, R$12.49, and the highest, R$25.19. Beef muscle, on the other hand, had a variation of 100.05%, with prices ranging from R$18.99 to R$37.99. Among the sausages, calabresa sausage showed the greatest variation, being sold for prices ranging from R$21.90 to R$38.99, which represents a difference of 78.04%.
