Ukraine made a breakthrough into the Chinese starch market

Ukraine will set a historic record for the export of potato starch in the 2020/21 season (September-August). This is reported by EastFruit. As noted, only in the first five months of the current season, the country managed to export almost three times more of these products than in the entire previous marketing year. Meanwhile, imports of potato starch to Ukraine fell sharply, and the country's trade balance may for the first time reach positive indicators in at least the last 5 years. In the period from September 2020 to January 2021 alone, Ukraine was able to export almost 1.1 thousand tons of potato starch, while in previous seasons, export volumes for the entire marketing year ranged from 100-400 tons. The key and practically the only sales market for Ukrainian potato starch abroad this season has become China, which imported about 95% of all Ukrainian exports and has already managed to set a new record for imports from Ukraine.
