The Peruvian Amazon is showing concrete signs of adaptation to new international trade standards. The Caniari Amazónica Ecological Agricultural Cooperative (CAECAM), located in Ucayali, completed the export of 175 tons of organic cocoa to Italy, the Netherlands, and the United States, proactively aligning with the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), which will enter into force on December 30, 2025. The shipment responds to a commercial agreement for 600 tons to be fulfilled by the end of 2025 and marks a significant step for small producers in the region who seek to insert themselves into markets that demand traceability, sustainable practices, and deforestation-free supply chains.
