Mozambique has seen a significant increase in certified seed production, with a 18.3% rise from the previous campaign, totaling 12,061 tons. The provinces of Manica, Zambézia, and Nampula were the main contributors to this growth. The agricultural sector's use of seeds has surged by 58% over the last three years, largely due to the SUSTENTA Program. There is a demand for 90,000 tons of seeds in Mozambique, which translates to 13.3% being certified seed. Additionally, the country has experienced a fivefold increase in the use of fertilizers and a 31% annual growth in the use of pesticides, despite a 33% decrease in the volume used in the previous season. The average price of pesticides has risen by 37% compared to the previous campaign.
