In May 2024, Chile saw a 4.1% increase in egg production for consumption, reaching 351,742,724 units, as reported by the National Institute of Statistics (INE). This growth is primarily due to a 5.3% rise in white egg production and a 1.3% increase in colored eggs. The number of laying hens also grew by 3.0% to 14,700,704. The Metropolitan Region led in egg production with a 42.4% share, followed by Valparaíso and Ñuble Regions. The Metropolitan Region also had the highest number of hens in lay with 40.4% of the national total.
