Prof. Stefan Gandev is the new chairman of the Agricultural Academy.

By order of Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov dated August 1, the current director of the Institute of Fruit Growing – Plovdiv, Prof. Dr. Stefan Gandev, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Agricultural Academy. He succeeds Prof. Violeta Bozhanova, who has been heading the AA since November 2023. Prof. Bozhanova will continue to be part of the scientific team of the Institute of Field Crops – Chirpan at the AA and will work on various national and international scientific projects, as stated in her social media post. Prof. Dr. Stefan Gandev has been working at the Institute of Fruit Growing (IFG) – Plovdiv since 1988. His areas of professional interest include the propagation of fruit plants, formation and pruning systems for fruit species, genetic resources in walnuts, production of standard and certified fruit planting material grown in containers.
