The Mugla Metropolitan Municipality launched the Mastic Tree Trial Garden in Fethiye to diversify rural production and open new revenue streams for producers. According to a statement from the municipality, 190 mastic trees were planted on 6,000 square meters of a 7,251 square meter municipal property in Karakeçililer Mahallesi, creating a model production site. Under the Agricultural and Livestock Support Regulation, a protocol was signed with the Fethiye Ata Agricultural Development Cooperative to jointly develop the project. Pruning, maintenance, and harvesting processes are carried out by the cooperative, which processes the mastic sap into various products. Products containing mastic sap, such as ice cream, milk jam, Turkish coffee, mastic paste, and mastic skin care cream, are sold by the cooperative to the public.
