Project for the application in Spain of the European regulations on the incorporation of meat meal in pigs and poultry

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) is working on a Royal Decree project for the application in Spain of the European Union regulations on the incorporation of processed animal proteins (PAT) from non-ruminant animals in livestock feed pig and poultry. At the moment, a prior public consultation process has been opened, until February 23, with a view to preparing the text. In August last year, the community regulation was published authorizing the use of PAT of pig origin in feed for poultry, of PAT from poultry in feed for pigs, and of PAT of farmed insects both for feeding the pig and poultry. This text is already in force and is directly applicable in all Member States. However, national legislation is necessary because the community legislation opens the door for countries to allow certain exceptions in the processes of obtaining, storing and transporting these processed animal proteins.
