Poland projected changes to animal subsidies

The Strategic Plan for the Common Agricultural Policy for the years 2023-2027 developed by the Ministry of Agriculture includes the Eco-Scheme - Animal Welfare, proposals for animal breeding subsidies, the purpose of which is to encourage farmers to promote higher (above the applicable standards) animal welfare conditions. Farmers will be granted support for the implementation of animal welfare commitments that go beyond the relevant mandatory standards resulting from generally applicable law and commonly used practices. This support is intended to compensate for the additional costs incurred and income foregone as a result of introducing breeding practices related to increased animal welfare. The intervention covers pigs (sows and fattening pigs), cattle (cows and fatteners), sheep, laying hens, broilers, turkeys and horses.
