Members of the Committee on Agriculture in the European Parliament adopted a report on the proposed new rules for the wine sector. The "wine package," which amends three EU laws governing the current rules for the wine sector, aims to address the challenges faced by wine producers and unlock new market opportunities for them. Members of the European Parliament propose greater flexibility and clarity in wine labeling. The term "non-alcoholic," accompanied by the expression 0.0%, can be used if the alcohol content of the product does not exceed 0.05%. Products whose alcohol content is equal to or higher than 0.5% and is at least 30% below the alcohol content of their category must be labeled as products with "reduced alcohol content."
