A recent study by the Harbin University of Agronomic Sciences in China has found that pumpkin seed cake, a by-product of oil extraction, can be used as a replacement for soybean cake in the diet of dairy cows. The research, which was published in ScienceDirect, demonstrated that this replacement does not affect milk yield, ruminal fermentation, or digestibility in dairy cows. In fact, it enhances the antioxidant functions and improves blood parameters in these cows. The study involved six lactating multiparous Holstein dairy cows that were randomly assigned to three groups, all of which had the same nitrogen and forage content.
