Pyeongchang County recently held a meeting of the Agricultural and Livestock Products Price Stabilization Fund Operations Advisory Council and deliberated and decided on the lowest price difference support for the price stabilization fund in 2025. Accordingly, to establish the detailed plan for the lowest price difference support from the fund, the Agricultural and Livestock Products Price Stabilization Fund Working Committee will continue to meet until January 2026 to decide on the supported items, the lowest price, and the detailed support contents. Pyeongchang County established and enacted the ordinance for the installation and operation of the Pyeongchang County Agricultural and Livestock Products Price Stabilization Fund in 2015 to expand the sales channels and stabilize the prices of agricultural and livestock products produced by Pyeongchang County farmers through supply and demand control, and to activate the distribution industry. With one ordinance revision, the fund's existence period was extended until 2029, and a total of 120 billion won in funds was created, including 105 billion won in county contributions and 7 billion won in systematic distribution organization contributions. Pyeongchang County invested 8 billion won from the fund in 2021 to support 1,554 farms with 15 items, including green onions, due to the amplification of the sense of crisis in rural areas caused by the decline in agricultural product prices due to reduced consumption from COVID-19. Additionally, 12 billion won was invested twice, including 4 billion won in 2024, to support 1,670 farms with the lowest price difference to alleviate the financial burden on livestock farmers facing difficulties due to falling beef prices and rising feed costs. Pyeongchang County Mayor Sim Jae-guk said on the 11th, "To strengthen the safety net for farmers, who are increasingly struggling, and to activate distribution, we plan to continue creating the Pyeongchang County Agricultural and Livestock Products Price Stabilization Fund," and "To establish permanent support standards for the price stabilization fund and achieve the target amount of fund creation, we will make efforts together with the regional agricultural and livestock cooperatives, related organizations, and farmers."
