The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) in Qatar has signed several contracts and agreements to enhance food security and achieve self-sufficiency in strategic commodities. The agreements include a memorandum of understanding with Qatar Development Bank to launch an initiative to encourage tilapia production and an agreement with nine private companies for breeding and fattening of local sheep and goats. The MME also signed contracts for three agricultural projects to produce green fodder using treated wastewater and an initiative to rehabilitate and afforest mobile farms in collaboration with the Qatar Livestock Society. These efforts aim to increase self-sufficiency in food production and support environmental sustainability.
