The Queensland government is funding a $1.75 million program to support sustainable farming practices in Central Queensland, with a focus on reducing sediment runoff into the Great Barrier Reef. Under the Grain Sediment Reduction Program, eligible grain growers in the Central Queensland Highlands and the Isaac and Dawson River valleys can access grants of up to $100,000. The funding is aimed at reducing soil loss, increasing ground cover and preventing fine sediment from entering waterways. The $1.75 million program also seeks to support farm productivity by encouraging the adoption of sustainable land management practices.
