Turkish white poppy exports to India have recommenced after a 2.5-year hiatus due to the pandemic, with a new quota in place. Turkeys Aegean Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters' Association is optimistic and grateful for the resumption of trade, expecting to generate $80 million from these exports. The industry, which employs over 70,000 producers, contributes an average of 25,000 tons of poppy seeds annually to Turkey's agricultural sector. The government is encouraging the sector to reach an export goal of $1 billion.
