The domestic rabbit sector in Hungary has seen significant development in recent years, but has faced a decline in production in 2023 due to economic challenges. However, the decrease in rabbit production in Western Europe presents an opportunity for the Hungarian rabbit industry to gain market share. Rabbit meat is a healthy and nutritious source of protein, but its consumption is not widespread among Hungarians and the industry is primarily export-oriented. Efforts are being made to promote the advantages of rabbit meat and increase awareness among Hungarian consumers.
