Snakehead fish farming along Ba Sua canal in An Tap hamlet, Chau Thanh district, Soc Trang province is booming, with farmers set to sell farmed fish around the Lunar New Year. The fish, which is fed bait fish caught in the wild, has seen a 30-40% increase in number in the second stocking period compared to the first. Despite challenges such as high feed prices and scarce natural fish resources, the model remains popular due to its contribution to increasing income and providing a diverse source of freshwater aquatic foods in the market.
