Rajungan Village in East Java, Indonesia, is renowned for its crab fishing industry, with 1,142 members from the Joint Business Group (KUB) producing around 389,250 kg of crabs worth over Rp. 46 billion annually. The village has developed downstream activities and has nine micro-scale Fish Processing Units. The group approach through KUB has improved the community's access to capital, marketing, and government programs, leading to increased benefits and sustainability. The local fishery instructor has encouraged the use of eco-friendly fishing gear and has taught better crab catching and handling techniques, resulting in higher prices for the crab. The village's fishermen now use modern technology like GPS and weather forecasting applications.
