The US National Beef Breeders Association (NCBA) is calling for a halt to beef imports from Brazil due to a confirmed case of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) and a delay in reporting the case. The NCBA argues that this delay violates international reporting requirements and is demanding that the USDA take immediate action to stop further beef imports from Brazil. The NCBA has also written to the USDA demanding action and is backing bipartisan Senate legislation to suspend imports of Brazilian beef pending a review of Brazil's standards.
