Abnormally low temperatures during the early blooming season in spring have caused significant damage to crops in the Gyeongnam region, with 870 hectares of fruit trees and some field crops affected. The most damage was to apples, pears, and sweet persimmons, with over 97% of apples and 45% of pears uninsured. The region is seeking to increase crop disaster insurance protection and disaster subsidy, and farmers are appealing for practical relief measures. South Gyeongsang Province is also planning to support disaster recovery for farmhouses affected by fruit tree freezing.
