(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Yu Han-joo = The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced on the 30th that Lotte Shopping [023530] Lotte Mart Business Division, which imported and sold Vietnamese 'bananas', has detected excessive levels of residual pesticides 'clothianidin' and 'thiamethoxam' exceeding the standard, and has halted sales and recalled the product.
Clothianidin and thiamethoxam are pesticides used to control pests on fruits and vegetables.
The production year of the mentioned bananas is this year.
The Ministry urged consumers who purchased the product to stop consuming it and return it to the place of purchase.
