The "I have a lot of reasons to live in my village" project, initiated in 2020 by Van Governor Ozan Balcı in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and Ziraat Bank, aims to boost rural development and revitalize animal husbandry in Van, Turkey's leading region in small cattle farming. The project offers zero-interest loans to support small cattle farming, providing 200,000 sheep to around 2,000 farmers so far. The project not only provides loans but also includes services such as pasture improvement, veterinary care, and gender protection for lambs. The ultimate goal is to increase the number of small cattle from 200,000 to 1 million, which is expected to enhance the income sources for rural citizens and reduce urban migration.
